SKILLS/ABILITIES
Jean Grey is an Omega level telepath and telekinetic, and therefore ridiculously powerful in canon. While these two abilities are of the mind and can be used in unison to create some powerful effects, they are two separate power sets. Telepathy ★ Psychic Shields: Jean can shield her mind and the minds of others from physic infiltration/manipulation. Using this ability she can also cloak herself and those around her from the detection of other psions. ★ Telepathic Illusions: using this ability she can make most people see, or not see, whatever she wants. For example, if she wants people to see her as someone else she is capable of creating that illusion in their head. Alternatively, if she wants to go unseen she can make people simply not register her as being there. ★ Telepathic Manipulation: similar to her illusions, she can make most people do whatever she wants with relative ease. She can calm emotions, temporarily mentally or physically paralyze, erase memories, make someone relive memories, physically control, or even sedate those around her. Using this ability she can also temporarily shut off certain bodily functions, such as the ability to feel pain (she’s done this on herself after being stabbed in the shoulder and done it to others). ★ Mind Link: she is able to link up the minds of herself and others in order to mentally communicate, share memories, or even share ideas. ★ Psychic Blasts: much like her physical telekinetic blasts she can lash out at another person’s mind and cause them pain or knock them unconscious (or potentially leave someone brain dead, though she’d never purposely do this). This ability can be used in unison with her telepathic blasts. ★ Mental Detection: she can reach out to find the minds of others, those she’s familiar with are often easier for her to find than complete strangers. The range of this ability is unknown, though it does seem to have a limited range as she often relies on Cerebro to detect those that might be elsewhere on the globe. Telekinesis ★ Flight: using her telekinesis Jean is capable of flight, she can also carry others with her though she’s only been shown to carry six others with her (at most). Her top speed is unknown though she could likely cross the US in an afternoon at a moderate pace -- if we went off Julian Keller, a fellow telekinetic, crossing from Texas to New York in a matter of minutes after Emma Frost removed his limits she could possibly fly just as quickly (though she’d cause mass destruction in her path while doing so). ★ Telekinetic Manipulation: she can move objects and people with a thought, she’s been shown to easily throw around vehicles and even the Blob, who weighs nearly half a ton. Her older counterpart is estimated to be able to lift up to 50 tons, so that’s a possible upper limit of her telekinetic strength. She can also use this ability to make her punches hit harder by channeling her telekinesis into her fist. Her control is great enough that is she can move something with her hand or a tool she can do it with her mind. ★ Telekinetic Aura: something of a personal forcefield she can create that protects her, this aura can also be extended to others. It doesn’t protect her from everything, however. ★ Telekinetic Blasts: unlike her psychic blasts, her telekinetic blasts do physical force damage. This may just be another form of her constructs in blast form. This ability can be used in unison with her psychic blasts. ★ Telekinetic Constructs: using her telekinesis she can create psionic constructs such as telekinetic bandages to stop bleeding, protective bubble-like shields, walls, funnels, full body armor, and weapons. As far as weapons go she seems to prefer melee over ranged, often creating hammers, swords, shields, or various other handheld weapons. She has not been shown to create anything like a gun or bow and arrow, such weapons are likely possible for her to create but simply don’t suit her personality. Thanks to training by Psylocke she’s capable of creating weapons that can do psychic damage rather than physical damage, though they can do both at the same time.
